Harvest/storage
Harvest takes place at the end of September to early October, approximately at the same time as Golden Delicious. It reaches eating maturity in November and, under proper storage conditions, can be kept until April.

Opal® is a cultivar intended exclusively for the commercial production sector; therefore, trees are not available for retail sale or for home gardens.

Usage

Primarily intended for fresh consumption; also very suitable for drying. The flesh does not brown, making it an excellent dessert apple. The juice is highly aromatic with an exotic flavour, and it does not brown when exposed to air.

At the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering at SPU in Nitra, we've created a project that offers visitors to our plantings a new way to discover the beauty and intriguing aspects of plants. Each plant in our plantings has its own unique QR code. All a visitor needs to do is scan this code with their smartphone.
