Interactive classroom for the Horticulture study program

The current student, influenced by the development of information and communication technologies with a direct connection to education and training, is subject to the dynamics of changes in education, which concern educators themselves, as well as teachers. This resulted in the need to increase the effectiveness of teaching, improve its quality and improve the practical readiness of graduates in the field of horticultural sciences as well. The teaching process will be supplemented by the absent didactic elements by creating an interactive classroom, which will consist of a real model planting of horticultural crops linked to an online textbook with the most important taxa, species and varieties, with their basic characteristics and photographic material of their developmental stages and characteristic features, and the basics of appropriate cultivation technology , or short videos and a link to the latest scientific studies. The constructed sample planting connected via QR codes to an interactive online platform will enable the realization of a modern form of practical education for students with the aim of connecting theory and practice, developing their skills in solving semester assignments, practical courses, as well as in solving research in preparation for B.c., Ing. and PhD. final theses.

Labeling Plants with QR Codes

At the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering at SPU in Nitra, we've created a project that offers visitors to our plantings a new way to discover the beauty and intriguing aspects of plants. Each plant in our plantings has its own unique QR code. All a visitor needs to do is scan this code with their smartphone.
